RBS Chennai Industrial Visits 2010
 
 


There were 2 industrial visits carried out for our MBA students in 2010

1. Industrial Visit to Britannia Industries Pondicherry - 14th August 2010


The students of I year and II year with two members of staff on board in two buses embarked on an educational tour to a leading industrial FMCG company of repute viz. Britannia Industries Ltd at Pondicherry-starting at 7.15 am. On the way, students disembarked at a beach on the way near Kovalam and enjoyed the breakfast provided by RBS and then proceeded to the factory which is off the main town. After reaching there around 10.30, two batches were formed and taken around the entire factory by senior personnel who explained about the quality thrust at all stages like procurement, processing, packing, storage, distribution etc., There are about 80 employees working incessantly in three continuous shifts producing tons of Britannia biscuits. The students enjoyed the hospitality extended by them in terms of snacks and other facilities. Students then visited the locally popular places like Aurobindo ashram, Beach etc., It was indeed a trip with twin of learning with fun. The team returned around 9.00 p.m.


2. Industrial Visit to AAVIN - 12th August 2010

An Industrial visit was arranged by RBS, Chennai, to Aavin- milk manufacturing unit located at Sholinganallur on 12th August, 2010. All the final year MBA students and the staff members visited the factory. The students were given a brief introduction in the lecture hall for 30 minutes by Dr. Anbarasan, regarding the functioning, processing and procurement of the milk by Aavin. It was very informative which covered almost various areas regarding milk production, milk products, various market players and the advantages of consuming milk as a daily part of life. After the lecturing session students were taken inside the factory premises where the process was carried on. Students were practically shown how milk has been collected from various societies and poured into huge tanks for pasteurization, preservation, and packaging process. Students learnt about the fully automated process of Aavin, which will be highly helpful when they read subjects like production planning and control systems, marketing, production and operations management, strategic management etc in their MBA program.
